Repellio compared with sprays, traps and the exterminator

What each method does well, where it falls short and where a plug-in repeller fits in.

Every method of pest control has its place. The question is what you want: a quick knock-down, a trap you check every morning, or a home that stays unattractive to pests without you thinking about it.

Insect spray

Fast and visible, but only where you spray and only while the active ingredient lasts. You buy new cans, air the room and wipe the surfaces. The next pests are not stopped.

Snap traps and glue traps

Cheap and direct, but someone has to check and empty them, often with an unpleasant surprise. Glue traps are widely criticized as cruel. Neither keeps new pests from coming in.

Poison bait

Effective for some infestations, but poison in a home with children and pets is a real worry. Poisoned rodents can die in walls or under floors, where you cannot reach them.

Home remedies

Vinegar, peppermint oil or coffee grounds are popular. They are harmless, but the effect is usually short-lived and has to be renewed constantly.

The exterminator

The right choice for a severe infestation or damage to the building. For everyday prevention it is expensive and needs appointments.

Where Repellio fits

Repellio is the option for people who want prevention without effort: plug it in, leave it running and, according to the maker, make every protected room uncomfortable for pests around the clock. It works best combined with basic hygiene: food stored away, waste taken out and obvious gaps sealed.

One purchase instead of new cans. From $20.00 per device in multi-packs.
